Dental Fillings

Dental Fillings

When minor decay has damaged one of your teeth, the least invasive action your Dental Health Care Center dentist may elect to take is a dental filling. In this procedure, the decayed area is removed and the opening is filled with a material called an amalgam. Proper dental hygiene and regular visits to your dentist are your best defense against dental tooth decay and dental fillings.

Dental fillings may be traditional metal fillings or modern composite fillings. Traditional metal fillings offer the least expensive option but they also wear over time and do not match your tooth’s natural color. Composite fillings can be made to match your natural tooth color and, because they do not corrode, they last a long time.

Talk to your dentist about which option is best for you.
